Dog boarding and day care in Macclesfield, Wilmslow and Congleton, area by area

This page's four areas run from Macclesfield itself out to Wilmslow & Alderley Edge, Poynton & Bramhall and Congleton, and the seventeen listed businesses are fairly evenly spread, with Poynton & Bramhall the largest.

The four areas follow postcode districts: Macclesfield covers SK10 and SK11, Poynton & Bramhall covers SK12 and SK7, Wilmslow & Alderley Edge covers SK9, and Congleton covers CW12.

Macclesfield

Four businesses: three home boarders, Rookery Retreat, Liz's Pet Solutions and Tiny Paws Pet Services, and one boarding kennels, Windyway Kennels & Cattery, on a 12-acre farm off Buxton Old Road. Two of the three home boarders, Liz's Pet Solutions and Tiny Paws Pet Services, also offer day care, so this area covers both overnight and daytime care despite having no premises-based day-care centre of its own.

Poynton & Bramhall

The largest area, with five businesses, because it splits across two councils. Coppice Boarding Kennels & Cattery, on the Poynton side, is licensed by Cheshire East Council; Birch Hall Boarding Kennels & Cattery, Woof Squad, Barking Mad Stockport and Penny's Pooches, all on the Bramhall side, are licensed by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council instead. Three of the five are home boarders and two, Coppice and Birch Hall, run boarding kennels, so if you live on the Bramhall side specifically, checking which council issued a business's licence matters more here than in any of this page's other three areas.

Wilmslow & Alderley Edge

Four businesses: two long-established kennels, Newgate Kennels & Cattery (since 1948) and Studholme Kennels & Cattery (since 1962), and two home boarders, The Woofpack Wilmslow and Barking Mad Wilmslow & South Manchester. Newgate also runs a day creche alongside its overnight boarding, so this is the only one of the four areas with a premises-based day-care option as well as home boarding and kennels.

Congleton

Also four businesses: two boarding kennels, Country Kennels and Grove House Boarding Kennels, and two home boarders, Hounddog Hotel and Katie's K9s. Country Kennels also runs day care, and both home boarders here hold a Cheshire East licence rated 4 or 5 stars, so Congleton is one of the better-rated areas on this page for anyone checking the council's own inspection score before booking.

What this means if you live near the boundary

An area's boundary here is not a hard limit on where a business will actually travel to collect or deliver a dog; several of the home boarders and franchise territories listed cover a wider patch than their own area name suggests, so it is always worth asking a business in a neighbouring area whether it reaches you before assuming it does not.

How these areas were worked out

An area shown here follows the postcode district a business's own site places it in, or, for the Bramhall side of Poynton & Bramhall, the ward a business's Stockport Council licence is registered under. Every business shown also has a confirmed phone number from its own site, a franchise's own branch page, or the council register itself, so the counts above only include businesses that could actually be reached, not every name found in research; several further names were found on both councils' registers but could not be matched to a working phone number in this pass. See our council licences guide for how each area's businesses are licensed.
