Day care or boarding in Hull?
Day care and boarding solve two different problems, and several of Hull's 13 listed businesses offer both. Day care is a booked day: your dog goes in after breakfast and comes home at teatime, which suits a working day more than a holiday. Boarding is your dog staying the night, whether that is one night or a fortnight.
Day care in Hull
Six of Hull's 13 businesses say they offer day care: Noah's Ark Dog Day School and Oakwood Dog Day School, both in west Hull; Burstwick Doggy Day Care and Windy Hill Cats & Dogs Hotel, both near Hedon and both alongside kennels; Tailz 'n' Trailz in Cottingham, alongside home boarding; and Positively Responsible Animal Services, which runs its day care from a unit in Brough while naming Hull, Willerby and Cottingham as areas it covers. Day care is a licensed activity in its own right in England, so ask to see the licence as well as the room.
Overnight boarding in Hull
Eleven of the 13 offer an overnight stay in one form or another: as home boarding, in a boarding kennels, or as a stated overnight service. Only Noah's Ark and Oakwood, both day-care only, do not board dogs overnight. Four businesses offer both day care and an overnight stay: Burstwick Doggy Day Care, Windy Hill Cats & Dogs Hotel, Tailz 'n' Trailz and Positively Responsible Animal Services.
Which suits your dog
A dog that is unsettled left alone all day, or a puppy not yet reliable for long stretches, is usually better suited to day care than being left at home. Mixing the two
If your dog is new to time away from you, day care first, with the same business you would later use for an overnight stay, is a reasonable way to test how it settles before you book something longer. Ask any of the four businesses offering both whether this is something they would support, and how much notice they would want before turning a day-care booking into an overnight one.
