Day care or boarding in Dudley and Stourbridge?
Dudley and Stourbridge's twelve listed dog boarders, day care providers and boarding kennels are licensed for different activities, and knowing which is which changes which of them suits you. Unlike some towns, none of the twelve here holds both a day care and an overnight licence.
Day care: for a working day, not a night away
Two of the twelve listed businesses hold a day care licence: Wagatails Dog Day Care, which runs from a purpose-built site in Kingswinford with a heated indoor hall and three acres of outdoor space, and Tipton Tails, a home-based day care in Tipton that takes no more than three day-care dogs at a time. Neither offers overnight boarding. The dog goes in after breakfast and comes home in the evening, which suits a dog that would otherwise be alone through a working day.
An overnight stay: home boarding or kennels
The other ten listed businesses are licensed for an overnight stay, either as home boarding or in a boarding kennels. If you need both
None of the twelve businesses listed here combines a day care licence with an overnight one, so if you need day care most weeks and an occasional overnight stay, expect to use two different businesses, or ask a home boarder whether it will take your dog for a single day as well as overnight, even without a separate day care licence.
What Wagatails and Tipton Tails actually offer
Wagatails Dog Day Care opens Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 6pm, with a weekend Saturday Club and its own field available to hire, and new dogs are assessed before joining; the business recommends two visits a week to begin with. Tipton Tails runs from a home rather than a commercial site, takes no more than three day-care dogs at a time alongside the family's own dog, and uses no pens or cages.
