Day care or boarding in Crawley?
Day care and overnight boarding solve two different problems, and most of Crawley's eleven listed businesses offer at least one of them, with six offering both. Nine run day care, and eight offer overnight boarding, either at a fixed site or through a home boarder.
Day care: for a working day, not a holiday
Day care is for a dog that would otherwise be alone through a working day: it goes in after breakfast and comes home at teatime rather than staying overnight. Nine of Crawley's businesses offer it: Sit and Stay Sussex (Nicky's Pet Minding), The Doghouse, Cherry Tree Kennels & Cattery, Happy Dayz Dogs, Bonnie's House, We Love Pets Haywards Heath, The Dogfather, Go Barking and Peppa's Pooch Playhouse. Three of these — The Doghouse, Happy Dayz Dogs and The Dogfather — offer day care only, with no overnight boarding at all, so they are the ones to check first if day care specifically is what you need. The Doghouse runs from a 50-acre private estate near Felbridge with its own 7-acre lake; Happy Dayz Dogs trades from Slugwash Lane, Haywards Heath, since 2020; and The Dogfather runs from a three-acre fenced site in Bolney with five indoor heated buildings and a dog taxi pickup service.
Overnight boarding: kennels or a home
Overnight boarding means your dog stays away from home for one or more nights, either in purpose-built kennels or in a home boarder's own house. Eight of Crawley's businesses offer it. Two run from a fixed kennels site rather than a home: Bulldog Holidays, a bulldog specialist in Ifield & Bewbush, and Cherry Tree Kennels & Cattery near Balcombe, which also takes cats and is licensed for up to 104 dogs, including 24 day-care spaces. The other six board dogs in the boarder's own home: Sit and Stay Sussex, Vanity Fur West Hoathly, Bonnie's House, We Love Pets Haywards Heath, Go Barking and Peppa's Pooch Playhouse. See our home boarding or kennels guide for how those two compare, including which are confirmed against a council register.
Which to choose
If your dog needs looking after during a working day and will sleep at home every night, any of the nine day-care businesses above is worth a call, and The Doghouse, Happy Dayz Dogs and The Dogfather run day care as their only service. If you are going away and need overnight cover, choose between Bulldog Holidays or Cherry Tree Kennels & Cattery for a fixed kennels site, or one of the six home boarders if you would rather your dog stayed in a house alongside a family rather than in a kennel run.
