Day care or boarding in Colchester?

Day care: for a working day, not a holiday
Day care is for a dog that would otherwise be alone through a working day: it goes in after breakfast and comes home at teatime, rather than staying overnight. Overnight boarding means your dog stays away from home for one or more nights, either in purpose-built kennels or in a home boarder's own house. Colchester's six boarding kennels licences are held by Amy's Pet Retreat near Boxted, Animal Magic Kennels & Cattery and Mutley's Hotel (both also day care), Hilltop Boarding Kennels and Cattery and Brightlingsea Boarding Kennels and Cattery near Wivenhoe, and Blackbrook Kennels near Dedham. What a day care day looks like
Colchester's day cares describe fairly different settings. Colchester Canine Creche, opened in Stanway in July 2019, runs an un-kennelled, nursery-style room with ball pits, a climbing frame and a play-house, structured around activities such as mini agility and treasure hunts. Dogs Play Centre uses 35 acres at Seven Saints Farm with separate indoor and outdoor play spaces, only takes dogs it judges sociable enough for group play, and requires a paid trial for a new dog before a first full booking. Muttley & Mabel, on Severalls Business Park, is licensed for up to 25 dogs, with a stated high staff-to-dog ratio and a separate calming area for dogs that need a break. Which to choose
If your dog needs looking after during a working day and will sleep at home every night, day care is the closer fit; if you are going away and need overnight cover, you need either boarding kennels or a home boarder.
