Day care or boarding in Brentwood?

Day care is a booked day, with your dog home again the same evening; overnight boarding, whether in a home, a kennels or a dedicated site, means a night or more away. Of the eleven dog boarders, kennels and day cares listed for Brentwood, seven offer day care and ten offer some form of overnight stay, with six offering both. Which you need depends less on the dog and more on your own week: a dog left alone all day at home is a day-care case, while a dog whose owner is away overnight needs boarding of one kind or another.

Day care only

The K9 Paddocks, a countryside day care on 3.5 acres in Ingatestone, is the only business listed here offering day care with no overnight option at all.

Overnight only

Bed and Biscuit, DogRunners, Arllaide Boarding Kennels & Cattery and Ladybird Kennel & Cattery offer an overnight stay with no day-care option. Arllaide and Ladybird are the two purpose-built kennels in this list; Bed and Biscuit and DogRunners are home boarders.

Both, under one roof

Pawtopia Doggy Daycare & Dog Hotel, Weald Walkies, Marion's Home Dog Boarding, Top Dog Brentwood, In The Doghouse and We Love Pets Brentwood all offer both a day-care and an overnight service, so a dog can try day care at a place before an overnight booking there. In The Doghouse's own council licence covers day care only even though it also offers boarding, so ask about this directly before you book an overnight stay there.

Why the split matters

A licence in Brentwood is issued per category, so a business that mentions both services on its own website does not always hold a licence covering both. In The Doghouse is the clearest example: it also offers boarding on its own site, but its council licence is registered for day care alone, so ask specifically which category the licence covers rather than assuming website wording matches the licence.

Geography plays a part too: in Ingatestone, Ladybird Kennel & Cattery boards but has no day care, while The K9 Paddocks runs day care with no boarding, so the two together cover both needs in that area between them. See our area-by-area guide for what else is nearby if neither fits your postcode.

Prices and which to ask about

A day's care and a night's stay are not priced the same way even within one business. See our prices guide for exactly what the three businesses that publish a price actually charge for a day and a night.
