Day care or boarding in Worthing?

Day care and overnight boarding solve two quite different problems, and only some of Worthing's businesses offer both of them. Of the nine boarders, day cares and kennels listed here, four list day care among their services: Paws4Walks, Unleashed Play & Care Centre, Love Pooches and VIP Doggy Day Care.

When day care fits

Day care suits a dog that would otherwise be alone through a working day rather than one that needs to stay overnight. Unleashed Play & Care Centre, a short walk from Worthing railway station, runs day care from a purpose-built site alongside grooming and training, with on-site parking and CCTV, and is the town's only dedicated day-care premises that does not also board dogs overnight. VIP Doggy Day Care, in Littlehampton, offers full-day, half-day, hourly and dog-sitting care, also from a dedicated site rather than a home, run by Julie.

When overnight boarding fits

Five businesses here board dogs overnight only, with no day care listed among their services: The Huntsman's Dog and Cat Hotel near Findon and Little Furlong Kennels & Cattery near Clapham village, both purpose-built boarding kennels; and K9 Home Boarding, Molly & Friends Dog Hotel and Pet-Professionals, all home boarders.

The businesses that offer both

Two Worthing businesses combine day care with overnight boarding: Paws4Walks, in the Worthing centre area, publishes prices for both a day-care day and an overnight sleepover or hotel stay, and Love Pooches, in Goring-by-Sea, offers day care and overnight home boarding across West Sussex, not only Worthing itself.

Cats and other pets

The Huntsman's Dog and Cat Hotel, near Findon, also boards cats alongside dogs, and its own site lists canine hydrotherapy and grooming as further services. If you need cover for more than one type of pet at the same time, ask directly whether a business can take both under one booking rather than assuming a dog-only business will.

Ask which one you actually need

If you are not sure whether your dog needs a day or a night away, describe your situation directly: how long it will be away from you, whether it has been left with strangers before, and whether it needs medication or has any anxiety around other dogs. Day care and overnight boarding are licensed separately in England, so this is also worth asking about as part of checking a business's licence.

Where each type sits

Worthing's two dedicated day-care premises sit in Worthing centre and Littlehampton, at opposite ends of the town; overnight-only boarding is spread across Broadwater, Durrington, Goring-by-Sea and Worthing centre, with nothing currently listed in Lancing & Sompting, Shoreham-by-Sea or Steyning, Bramber & Upper Beeding. See our area-by-area guide for the full breakdown of where Worthing's nine listed businesses actually are.
