Day care or boarding in Wolverhampton?

Day care: for a working day, not a night away
Five of the eighteen listed businesses hold a day care licence: The Clees Dog Services, Hickmans Hounds Doggy Day Care, Simmo Woof, Jay's Pawsome Boutique and 4 Paws Academy. The dog goes in after breakfast and comes home in the evening rather than staying overnight, which suits a dog that would otherwise be alone through a working day. Ask what a full day covers and whether a half-day rate is available.
An overnight stay: home boarding or kennels
Sixteen of the eighteen listed businesses are licensed for an overnight stay, either as home boarding or in a boarding kennels. Fourteen hold a home boarding licence, taking dogs into the boarder's own house, and two — Woodford Grange Boarding Kennels and Red Oaks Farm Kennels and Cattery, both near Tettenhall & Compton — run purpose-built kennels instead. Hickmans Hounds Doggy Day Care and 4 Paws Academy are licensed for day care alone, with no home boarding or kennels licence recorded, so neither is an option for an overnight stay whatever else their own website might say.
Some businesses cover more than one
The Clees Dog Services, Simmo Woof and Jay's Pawsome Boutique all hold both a day care and a home boarding licence, which suits a dog you might need day cover for on some occasions and an overnight stay for on others without changing provider. Ask each directly whether the same rate and terms apply to both.
Where day care and overnight stays are found
Day-care-licensed businesses sit in four of Wolverhampton's five areas: the city centre, Tettenhall & Compton, Wednesfield and Bilston & Willenhall. Cannock, further south, currently has no day-care-licensed business listed, only home boarders, so a Cannock resident wanting day care specifically may need to ask one of the six home boarders there directly whether they would consider it.
