How Wolverhampton's councils license dog boarders
Every dog boarder, day care and kennels needs a council licence to operate in England, but Wolverhampton's eighteen listed businesses fall under four different councils, and how much of that can be checked against a public register varies sharply between them.
City of Wolverhampton Council: no public register
Five listed businesses — The Clees Dog Services and Penn Pet Care in the city centre, Henry's Haven in Tettenhall & Compton, Simmo Woof in Wednesfield and Bilston Home Boarding in Bilston & Willenhall — are licensed by City of Wolverhampton Council. The council states only that it must publish a register for alcohol and gambling licences; it makes no equivalent statement, and publishes no equivalent list, for animal welfare licences, and no third-party mirror of one was found either. Every licence and rating claim these five businesses make about themselves is self-stated, not confirmed against anything this directory can check, so ask to see the current certificate directly.
Walsall Council
Aston's Dog Sitting, in the Willenhall side of Bilston & Willenhall, is confirmed on Walsall Council's register, mirrored on animal-licensing.uk. The mirror confirms the licence but shows no star rating or expiry date. Jay's Pawsome Boutique and 4 Paws Academy both state a Walsall licence of their own that could not be matched to this register under their trading names, so ask either business directly to confirm it.
South Staffordshire Council
Four businesses in Tettenhall & Compton — Woodford Grange Boarding Kennels, Red Oaks Farm Kennels and Cattery, Pawsome Dog Care and Hickmans Hounds Doggy Day Care — are confirmed on South Staffordshire Council's own dated PDF register, which gives a trading name, an address and a star rating for each entry. This guide does not repeat the star figures here; ask the business to show you its current certificate and rating directly.
Cannock Chase District Council
All six businesses in Cannock — Happy Hounds Holiday Home Boarding, Cosy Paws Pet Sitting & Dog Walking, K9 at Mine, Cosy Canine Club, We Love Pets Cannock and Happy Dog — are confirmed on Cannock Chase District Council's register, mirrored on animal-licensing.uk, though three of the six — Cosy Paws Pet Sitting & Dog Walking, K9 at Mine and Happy Dog — had an expiry date that had already passed as at this research, so no current licence is shown on those three listings; ask each directly whether it has been renewed. As with South Staffordshire, this guide does not state a star figure for any of them; ask the business directly for its current rating.
