National Animal Welfare Trust Hertfordshire is a rescue and rehoming charity centre on Tylers Way, on the Watford by-pass, that also boards dogs and cats under a council licence. The site has cared for animals since at least the 1930s and, by its own account, was used to help evacuate pets from London during the Second World War. It says it cares for more than 400 animals a year. Hertsmere Borough Council licenses the site for boarding kennels and cat boarding, with a 3-star rating. It opens Monday, and Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 4pm, and is closed Tuesdays, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
