Home boarding or kennels in Warrington?

Warrington's fifteen listed boarders, day cares and kennels are mostly home boarders: nine board dogs in the boarder's own house, against five running from a separate kennels premises, and one offering day care only with no overnight stay.

Home boarding

Digs for Dogs, PetStay and Pawsitive Retreat cover the Warrington centre area; WAGGIO and Pets Homes and Gardens Stockton Heath cover Birchwood & Culcheth; The Hound House and Happy Feet Dog Boarding cover Northwich; and Wyllow's Walkies and We Love Pets Wigan cover Newton-le-Willows & Golborne. A home boarder usually takes far fewer dogs at once than a kennels, often just one household's dogs alongside its own; WAGGIO, for example, caps its premises at six dogs at any one time. As with every home boarder on this site, only the area and town are shown here; the address is given once you book.

Boarding kennels

Canine Clubhouse, near Weaverham in the Northwich area, and Hollybank Boarding Cattery & Kennels and Dogs Country Club, both in Lowton in the Newton-le-Willows & Golborne area, run purpose-built kennel blocks, as does The Dogs Pad Kennels & Cattery in Grappenhall and No More Kennels in Penketh. A kennels usually has room for more dogs at once, set feeding and exercise times, and staff on site rather than one family; Dogs Country Club also offers home boarding at the same address under a separate licence, and No More Kennels also offers day care and home boarding alongside its kennels licence.

What the premises look like

Canine Clubhouse has 15 kennel rooms across nine acres, with climate-controlled, fully enclosed accommodation rather than traditional open runs; The Dogs Pad Kennels & Cattery has individual outdoor runs for up to 64 dogs; and Dogs Country Club combines its kennels with an exercise field available for hire. Ask to see where your dog will actually sleep and exercise, rather than relying on a general description.

Day care only

Wellie Dogs Walks, near Dutton in the Stockton Heath & Appleton area, runs day care and dog walking but does not board dogs overnight. See our day care or boarding guide for the full split between day care and overnight stays.

Privacy and premises

A boarding kennels is a business premises in the ordinary sense, so a street or village name can appear on its listing here. A home boarder's licence, by contrast, is issued to a person at their own house, which is a different kind of privacy: this site shows only the area and town for a home boarder, never a street, and gives the address once you have booked, whatever the business itself publishes elsewhere.

Choosing between them

A nervous dog that dislikes sharing space with strange dogs may do better with a home boarder taking one household at a time; a sociable dog might prefer a kennels' larger group and more structured day. Ask a home boarder how many other dogs will be there during your dates, and ask a kennels about its run and group sizes, before you decide.
