Dog boarding, kennels and day care prices in Wakefield

Prices are as the businesses published them when we last checked (September 2026). They can change without notice, so confirm them when you book.

Twelve dog day cares, boarding kennels and home boarders are listed for Wakefield, and only three of them publish a price on their own site: Carter & Co Canine Care, Waggin' Tails Boarding Kennels and Westmead Kennels & Cattery. The other nine quote once they know your dog's size, breed and dates, so the figures below are a floor for what boarding, kennels and grooming cost locally, not a full price list for the town.

Boarding kennels

Two of Wakefield's four boarding kennels publish a price, and they are close to each other. Waggin' Tails Boarding Kennels, in the hills at Overton, charges £25 a day for one dog, £38 for two dogs sharing and £45 for three dogs sharing, plus a small £3 extra for a heat lamp. Westmead Kennels & Cattery, near Havercroft, charges the same £25 a day for one dog and £45 for four dogs sharing, alongside cat boarding at £15 a day for one cat and £40 for four. Harefield Boarding Kennels, near Ossett, and Oakenshaw Boarding Kennels & Cattery, in Crofton, do not publish a price; call to ask.

Grooming, not boarding or day care

Carter & Co Canine Care, a grooming business in Walton that also holds a City of Wakefield Metropolitan District Council day-care licence, publishes grooming prices rather than a day-care rate: a puppy groom at £25, a small groom at £43 and a medium groom at £48. Its day-care rate itself is not published, so call to ask what a day-care session costs separately from grooming.

Home boarding and day care

None of Wakefield's four home-boarding licence holders (Pet Stay Wakefield & Castleford, George's Pet Pals, Wragby Grange Daycare & Boarding and Unleashed Pet Services) or its day-care licence holders (Wragby Grange Daycare & Boarding, Barkley & Co, Muddy Pawz Serenity Ltd, Carter & Co Canine Care and Paddle & Play Pet Wellness Centre) publish a home-boarding or day-care price on their own page. This is normal for the niche: a home boarder in particular usually prices around the length of stay, the number of dogs from the same household and how far it needs to travel, so have your dog's details and your dates ready when you call.

Extras to ask about

None of the prices above include extras that often apply elsewhere: bank holidays, collection and drop-off, and a second dog from a different household are commonly charged on top of the headline rate, so confirm the final total before booking rather than assuming the published figure is the whole cost.
