Plymouth's 24 listed dog boarders, day cares and kennels are spread across eight areas, from St Budeaux and Saltash out to Ivybridge and Tavistock. Every area listed here has at least one business; none is empty, though some have far more choice than others.

Why the areas differ so much
The gap between St Budeaux and Saltash's seven listings and the two apiece in Mutley and Peverell, Plymstock, Crownhill and Derriford, and Plympton is not necessarily a gap in real supply: it partly reflects how many licensed businesses in each area had a findable phone number during this site's research, and how current each council's own register is. A thinner area page here is not the same as a thin market for dog boarding in that part of the city.
St Budeaux and Saltash: the best-covered area
St Budeaux and Saltash has seven listed businesses, more than double any other area, because it combines Plymouth City Council's PL5 side with Cornwall Council's Saltash and Landrake register on the Cornwall side of the Tamar. It is the only area with a purpose-built kennels — two of them, Tri-Acre Kennels & Cattery and Grove Nurseries Boarding Kennels & Cattery — alongside five home boarders.
Ivybridge and Tavistock: a different licensing authority each
Ivybridge sits under South Hams District Council, which runs no public register this site could reach, so its three businesses — Pugs and Pals Devon, Beach Buddies and Cadleigh Tails — are shown on their own word rather than a confirmed licence. Tavistock sits under West Devon Borough Council, whose register does reach this site through a mirror, giving a licence number and expiry date, though not a star rating, for all three of its businesses.
Everywhere else
Mutley and Peverell, Plymstock, Crownhill and Derriford, and Plympton each have two listed businesses, all of them home boarders bar one day-care-only business in Crownhill and Derriford. Ivybridge and Tavistock each have three: Ivybridge's mix of two home boarders and a combined day care and boarding business, and Tavistock's two boarding kennels plus one home boarder covering a wider patch of the area. Plymouth city centre and Stonehouse also has three, all home boarders.
