Oxford's eight areas are unusually split for this niche: they sit across five different councils, so which council licenses a business depends on exactly where it is based, not simply on it being "in Oxford."

Which council covers which area

Summertown, Jericho & Wolvercote has no listed business at the time of writing; no licensed premises or independently confirmed home boarder was found with a base in this specific part of inner north Oxford.

Where a register gives a star score, and where it does not

A council star rating is shown on a listing only when it was read directly from that council's own published register, never from a business's own claim about itself. South Oxfordshire District Council's register gives a star score at operator level, and both of its listed businesses here, Archway Kennels and Got to Go Dog Walker & Groomer, carry the maximum 5 stars. None of the other four councils' listings here carry a star score: Oxford City Council's and Vale of White Horse District Council's registers were read through a third-party mirror rather than the council's own page, which gives a licence type, number and expiry; a star score that appears only on a mirror, rather than on the council's own page, is not shown here. Cherwell District Council's and West Oxfordshire District Council's registers carry no address field for almost any entry, which made it far harder to confirm a match at all.

What "no licence panel" means, and doesn't mean

Nine of Oxford's twenty-four listings carry no council licence panel, for three different reasons. The Dog House in Headington was matched to an Oxford City Council register row, but its expiry date had already passed with no renewal visible, so its panel is withheld pending confirmation. Barnewood Boarding Kennels, Gamegoer Kennels and K9 and Equine Care Oxfordshire, all in the Kidlington & Yarnton area, sit under Cherwell District Council, whose register carries no address field for almost any entry, so this research could not confirm a match for any of the three, even though a working licence almost certainly exists for each. The remaining five, all in Witney — Witney Dog Boarding and Grooming, Quirky Dog Home Boarding, H & B Home Dog Boarding, Muddy Paws Dog Walking and Boarding and Cassington Dog Grooming, Daycare & Boarding — sit under West Oxfordshire District Council, which has the same address-blank format; each states its own licence number on its own site, but none could be independently confirmed against a specific register row, and in Quirky Dog Home Boarding's case the closest matching row had an expiry date that had already passed. In every case, ask the business to show its current licence certificate directly rather than relying on what a website says.
