How Maidstone's council licenses dog boarders

Maidstone Borough Council is the only licensing authority covering this town's postcode districts (ME14 to ME18, ME20 and TN27), and every dog boarder, home boarder and day care operating here needs a licence from it. Eleven of the twelve businesses listed for Maidstone hold one.

Where the licence facts come from

The council does not publish its own searchable register or a downloadable list; the licence facts shown on this site come instead from animal-licensing.uk, a third-party mirror of the council's records, and each listing links to it as "register entry (third-party mirror of the council register)" rather than as the council's own page. The mirror gives a licence number and an expiry date for each business, but no address field at all, which is why addresses on Maidstone's listings, where shown, come from the business's own site rather than the register. Because it is a mirror rather than the council's own register, this site does not show a star rating for any Maidstone business, even where the mirror itself carries one.

Kate's Doggie Daycare's licence is the soonest to expire of the eleven; if you are reading this close to or after September 2026, ask to see its current certificate before booking.

The one that could not be confirmed

Kent Dog Grooming Academy, a dog grooming training school in Lenham that also advertises day care, was not found on Maidstone Borough Council's register at the time this was checked. That does not necessarily mean it is unlicensed, but it does mean this site cannot confirm one either way; ask the business directly about its day-care licensing before booking.

What to do with this

Ask to see the current licence certificate itself, not just a number, when you visit or call, and check the expiry date shown here against what the certificate says. A licence that has lapsed is removed from this site the day it expires, so a listing still showing a licence detail is, at the time of publishing, current.

Why not every Maidstone-licensed business is listed here

The mirror's Maidstone Borough Council page lists 58 animal-licence ratings in total, of which 27 cover dog boarding, home boarding or day care specifically. Some of those 27 sit outside this page's coverage: for example, a licensed day-care business at Lidsing, near Gillingham, and another at Stockbury both hold a Maidstone Borough Council licence but trade from an address outside the ME14 to ME18, ME20 and TN27 postcode districts this page covers, so they are not listed here. Others were register rows with no trading name at all, just an address, and are left out under the same rule that keeps a private individual's name off this site.
