How Liverpool's councils license dog boarders
Every dog boarder, home boarder and day care in England needs a council licence; it is a legal requirement, not a badge a business chooses to display. Liverpool's 20 listed businesses are licensed across three councils, and every one of those councils' registers reaches this site the same way: through the animal-licensing.uk mirror, not a council-hosted page directly.
Liverpool City Council
Liverpool City Council licenses ten of the 20 listed businesses, reached through its animal-licensing.uk authority page. The council's own summary table lists a business's name and licence type only; the licence number and expiry date for each business came instead from that business's own page on the same mirror, and none of the pages checked here carried a star rating. One of the ten, The Collar Club, is based in Huyton & Prescot rather than inside Liverpool City Council's own area — a reminder that a business's area on this site is about where it is based, not automatically which council licenses it.
Sefton Council
Sefton Council covers the Crosby & Bootle area, and its register works the same way — a licence number and expiry date per business, no star rating. Five Crosby & Bootle businesses are confirmed against it.
Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council
Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council covers Huyton & Prescot, and its register confirms two of the three Huyton & Prescot businesses it licenses, Canine Care and Cath's Pet Care — the fourth Huyton & Prescot business, The Collar Club, is licensed by Liverpool City Council instead, as noted above. The third Knowsley-licensed business, Nursery Farm Boarding Kennels, advertises boarding but could not be matched to a named entry on Knowsley's register in this research, so no licence panel is shown for it; ask to see its current certificate directly.
No star ratings shown for Liverpool
Unlike some other towns on this site, none of Liverpool's three councils' registers, as reached through the animal-licensing.uk mirror, gave a star rating for any business checked here. Where a business's own site or Facebook page states a star rating, this site does not repeat it as a confirmed fact, since a rating a business quotes about itself is not the same as one read directly from a council register.
Licences worth double-checking
A licence confirmed on a register is not the same as a licence still valid today: several of the seventeen confirmed licences here carried an expiry date that had already passed by the time this site was researched. Rather than list which ones by name, since a renewal could have happened since, the safer approach for any of Liverpool's 20 businesses is to ask directly for the current certificate and its expiry date before booking. Two further businesses, Diamond Doggycare and PetStay Liverpool & Knowsley, could not be matched to a register entry at all during this research; PetStay states that its individual carers are licensed without naming one to check.
