Vaccinations, licences and what to ask a Leeds dog boarder

Twenty-five dog boarders, day cares and kennels are listed for Leeds, all licensed by a single authority, Leeds City Council. None of them publish a vaccination timetable or a safety guarantee on their own site, and this directory does not set one either: a business's vaccination policy, and any conditions it attaches to a booking, are theirs to state and yours to ask about before you hand over a lead.

Vaccinations and kennel cough

Every boarder, day care and kennel we found asks what vaccinations a dog has had before it takes a booking, but the details vary from one business to the next, and none of that variation is listed here. Kennel cough policy is a good example: some businesses ask for a kennel-cough vaccination as well as the core set, some don't, and the gap between them is a business decision, not a rule this site can state on anyone's behalf.

Breed rules and household conditions

A boarder or kennel is entitled to set its own conditions, and at least one of the 25 businesses listed here does: Yorkshire Canine Care, a home boarder near Garforth, states that it will not board a dog that has not been neutered, as a condition of its own licence. Others may have conditions of their own on breed, age or household size that are not published anywhere online. Ask directly rather than assuming a business will or won't take a particular dog.

• Do you have any breed restrictions or conditions, including for an XL Bully with a valid exemption certificate?
• Do you have a policy on neutering, age, or how many dogs from one household you'll take together?
• Are you insured, and can you show evidence of current cover?

What the licence covers

Twenty of the 25 businesses listed for Leeds carry a current Leeds City Council licence panel on their listing here, read from the council's own open-data register. The other five either could not be matched to a register entry under their exact trading name, or their listed licence had already expired with no renewal showing when this was checked in September 2026; see our Leeds council licences guide for which is which. Whichever a business shows, ask to see the certificate itself rather than taking a website's word for it.

Before you book

• What does the price include, and how are the first and last day of a stay counted?
• How many other dogs will be there at the same time, and are they from one household or several?
• How is medication given, and is there a charge for it?

None of these are questions this directory can answer for a specific business; they are worth putting to whoever you call, whether that's a home boarder in Horsforth or a kennel in Garforth.
