Dog boarding and day care in Huddersfield, area by area
Huddersfield's five areas run from the town centre out to Lindley and Birkby, Almondbury and Newsome, Holmfirth, and Brighouse and Elland, and this directory's nine dog boarding, day-care and home-boarding businesses sit unevenly across them. Almondbury & Newsome alone holds more than half of the nine; two areas currently have none at all.
| Area | Listed businesses |
|---|---|
| Huddersfield town centre | 0 |
| Lindley & Birkby | 1 |
| Almondbury & Newsome | 5 |
| Holmfirth | 3 |
| Brighouse & Elland | 0 |
The five areas follow postcode districts: Huddersfield town centre covers HD1, Lindley & Birkby covers HD2 and HD3, Almondbury & Newsome covers HD4 and HD5, Holmfirth covers HD9, and Brighouse & Elland covers HD6 and HX5.
Almondbury & Newsome
This is by far the strongest area on this page, with five home boarders: Crosland Paws, The Dog Den, Chester's House and Gardens, Wavy Tails and Petwatch. Crosland Paws and Wavy Tails say on their own sites that they work in partnership with each other, and Petwatch pairs its home dog boarding with a purpose-built cattery.
Holmfirth
Three businesses cover this area: Khay's Paws, a home boarder offering walks around the local reservoirs; Glambullz Boarding, the only boarding kennels on this page, on nine acres of moorland near Meltham; and Walkies & Purrfect Mews Cat Hotel, a combined home dog boarding and cattery business.
Lindley & Birkby
One business is listed here, Relax & Paws, a home boarder that takes only one dog at a time unless from the same household, alongside dog walking and home visits.
Huddersfield town centre and Brighouse & Elland
No business is currently listed for either of these two areas. This is a genuine gap in what could be confirmed with a working phone number, not a sign that nothing operates there: Kirklees Council's own register lists further Huddersfield-area entries, and Calderdale Council licenses at least five home boarders recorded against Brighouse or Elland, but none of them produced a business that could be matched to a confirmed phone number within this pass's research budget. If you are near either area, it is worth asking the relevant council directly for its current register, or checking with a local vet, as well as looking here.
How these areas were worked out
An area shown here follows the postcode district a business's own site, Facebook page or the relevant council's register places it in. Where a register's place name and a business's own printed address disagreed, the business's own address was used, so a true area is not always the one Kirklees or Calderdale list it under. Every business shown also has a confirmed phone number, so the counts above only include businesses that could actually be reached, not every name found in research.
