Day care or boarding in Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft?

Day care and overnight boarding solve different problems, and almost all of the thirteen boarders, day cares and kennels listed across Great Yarmouth & Gorleston, Lowestoft and Beccles & Bungay offer at least one; seven offer both.

Day care

Eight of the thirteen offer day care: The Doghouse, in the Great Yarmouth & Gorleston area; Wiggley Walkers Lowestoft, Cases and Canines, Paws of Pakefield, We Love Pets East Coast and East Point Paws in Lowestoft; and Beccles Cosy Home Dog Boarding and We Love Pets Beccles in Beccles & Bungay. Day care suits a dog that would otherwise be alone through a working day; Cases and Canines is the only business here to publish a day-care rate on its own, at £25 a day.

Overnight boarding

Twelve of the thirteen offer an overnight stay, either as home boarding or in a kennels. Only East Point Paws, a dedicated day care, does not board dogs overnight at all. We Love Pets East Coast and We Love Pets Beccles each cap a group dog walk, a separate service alongside their day care and boarding, at four dogs under a stated no-pack-walk policy.

Scale

East Point Paws is reported to have capacity for up to 40 dogs a day from its converted premises on Newcombe Road, by far the largest single day-care operation on this page. Cases and Canines, by contrast, takes only one household's dogs at a time, whether for day care or overnight boarding, so its day care is a much smaller, quieter setting. Ask about a business's typical daily numbers before choosing between the two.

Group size and setting

Day care at a purpose-built site, such as East Point Paws, is reported to run to a larger group with set hours; day care alongside home boarding, as Cases and Canines and the We Love Pets branches all offer, tends to mean a smaller, house-based setting instead. Neither is better in general; it depends on whether your dog prefers space and other dogs' company or a quieter, smaller group. Ask about typical group size before you choose between the two.

Which to choose

If your dog only needs looking after during the working day, day care alone is usually simpler than paying for an overnight stay.
