How Farnham and Haslemere's councils license dog boarders

Home boarding, day care and boarding kennels are all licensed activities in England, and the licensing council gives every licensed premises a star rating from one to five as part of its inspection. Farnham, the villages, Haslemere and the Hindhead side of Hindhead & Liphook sit under Waverley Borough Council; Bordon & Whitehill, and Liphook itself, sit under East Hampshire District Council. The two registers are built differently, and this guide sets out exactly what each shows.

Waverley Borough Council: a dated PDF register

Waverley publishes its register as a PDF, most recently dated 30 October 2025, listing licence category, licence number, business name and star rating — it does not carry a street address or an expiry date. Nine of this town's 13 businesses fall under Waverley: Byers Doggy Care, Center-Barks, Zena D Dog Walking, Unleashed K9 Adventures and Clip & Care Farnham in Farnham; K9 Conundrums and Frensham Pond Kennels and Catteries in the villages; and Play Dates Doggy Daycare in Haslemere. Eight of these nine were matched to the council's PDF and each carries a five-star rating, the top of Waverley's scale. The ninth, Hound Dog Adventures, quotes a Waverley licence number on its own site that does not appear in the council's 30 October 2025 PDF; no star rating is shown for it here as a result.

East Hampshire District Council: a thinner spreadsheet

East Hampshire publishes its register as a spreadsheet, dated April 2026, covering all licensed animal activities in one flat list; it names the licensed activity, the trading name, the town or village, and a star rating, but no street address, licence number or expiry date. All four Bordon & Whitehill businesses — Miss Walkies, Four Paws Pet Care, YAP Home Boarding and K9 Daycare & Education — were matched to this register, and all four also carry a five-star rating.

What this means

Every confirmed licence found for this town currently shows the top, five-star rating; that reflects the businesses found and matched here, not a claim that every boarder in the wider area holds five stars. A council licence rating is a government inspection score, not a customer review, and this site shows it as its own labelled fact, never mixed in with a Google or other customer rating. Ask any of the 13 to show you its current licence certificate, and ask what its most recent inspection said, rather than relying on the star figure alone — a rating reflects the inspection that produced it, not a permanent guarantee of standards on any later date.

One gap: Hindhead & Liphook

No licensed dog boarding, home boarding or day-care business could be found addressed in Hindhead & Liphook on either council's register, which is why this site has no listing for that area at all. See our area-by-area guide for the nearest listed alternatives.
