Dog day care and boarding in Exeter, area by area

Twenty-two dog boarders, day cares and kennels are listed across Exeter's eight areas, but the spread is far from even: Exmouth alone accounts for eight of them, while two areas, Heavitree and Topsham, have no listed business at all. Use the links below to see the full listing for each area, including addresses, prices and licence details where they are known.

Exeter city centre, St Thomas and Pinhoe

Exeter city centre & St David's has three listings: Outward Hounds and Barking Mad Exeter, both home boarders, and Animals at Home Exeter. St Thomas, Alphington & Marsh Barton also has three: St Thomas Dog Boarding, Home for Hounds and Ford Farm Dogs. Pinhoe, Whipton & Beacon Heath has two: A Dogs Day Out Pinhoe and Dogs Day Care.

Heavitree and Topsham: genuine gaps

Neither Heavitree nor Topsham has a listed dog boarder, day care or kennels at the time of writing. A dog walker with no boarding or day-care licence was found operating in Heavitree, and nothing addressed in Topsham turned up on any register or general search, so these are recorded as genuine gaps rather than an oversight in the research. If you live in either area, the nearest listed businesses are in the city centre, St Thomas or Pinhoe, so it is worth checking whether they cover your postcode before ruling them out.

Exmouth

Exmouth is Exeter's deepest area by some distance, with eight listed businesses, all licensed by East Devon District Council: Just Purr-fect, The Dog Walking Company, Sandy Paws & Waggy Tails, Exe Valley Dog Walking, Tracks and Tails, Coastal Tails, Exmouth Canine Centre and Devon Doggies. Six of these eight are confirmed against East Devon's own register, all rated 5 stars; Exmouth Canine Centre and Devon Doggies could not be matched to that register by name, so their licence details are self-reported rather than independently checked. Almost all of Exmouth's businesses are home boarders rather than premises-based day cares or kennels.

Crediton and Tiverton

Both areas have three listings each, all licensed by Mid Devon District Council and confirmed against its own register: Orchard End Kennels & Cattery, Lapford Lodge Boarding Kennels & Cattery and Blackdown Boarding Kennels in Crediton, and Bunkersland Boarding Kennels, Tiverton Dog Centre and Happy Holiday Dogs in Tiverton. Crediton's three listings are all boarding kennels; Tiverton mixes two kennels businesses with one home boarder, Happy Holiday Dogs, a different supply pattern from Exmouth, where home boarding is far more common than kennels.
