Day care or boarding in Chichester and Bognor Regis?

Day care and overnight boarding solve two different problems, and most of Chichester and Bognor Regis's twelve listed businesses offer some form of both rather than specialising in one. This guide sets out which do which, so you can start your search with the businesses that actually cover what you need.

Day care

Seven of the twelve businesses offer day care alongside overnight boarding or home boarding: Amberley Kennels and Tharfield Pet Boarding, both kennels in the Chichester area with a day-boarding rate; Doggie TLC, Dog Dotty and Chichester Dog Sitters, all home boarders; Carleton Canine Centre in Arundel, which prices a full or half day separately from an overnight stay; and Muttlyns near Bognor Regis. Dog Dotty publishes a day rate of £35, and Chichester Dog Sitters £48 for a full day from 8am to 6pm; Carleton Canine Centre charges £25 for a full day and £20 for a half day. If your dog just needs looking after during a working day, these seven are the ones to call first.

Overnight boarding: kennels or a home

Three of the twelve run boarding kennels rather than home boarding: Amberley Kennels and Tharfield Pet Boarding in the Chichester area, and Carleton Canine Centre in Arundel, all purpose-built sites with dogs kept in individual accommodation rather than a family home. The other nine are home boarders: Doggie TLC, Dog Dotty and Kate's K9 Companions in Chichester; Chichester Dog Sitters, Lisa's Dog Boarding and Walking and Sussex Petsitters in Selsey & the Witterings; Dog Vision in Midhurst & Petworth; Allywags Pet Services in Petersfield & Liss; and Muttlyns in Bognor Regis. See our home boarding or kennels guide for how the two compare.

Which to choose

If you need daytime cover only, start with one of the seven businesses above that publish a day rate or describe a day-care service; Tharfield Pet Boarding's published prices and our prices guide give a sense of what to expect to pay locally. If you are going away and need overnight cover, choose between purpose-built kennels at Amberley Kennels, Tharfield Pet Boarding or Carleton Canine Centre, or one of the nine home boarders spread across the page's six areas. Whichever you choose, ask about a trial visit first; see our first stay guide for what several of these businesses already offer.

What day care and overnight boarding each involve

Day care means your dog goes in for part or all of a working day and comes home to sleep in its own bed; overnight boarding means it stays away for one or more nights, in either a kennels or a home boarder's own house. The businesses that offer both here generally price them separately: Chichester Dog Sitters charges £48 for a full day and £78 for an overnight stay, and Tharfield Pet Boarding charges £27 for day boarding against £24 for a night, so check which you are being quoted for before you compare two businesses against each other.
