How Chester's councils license dog boarders
Chester's eleven listed dog boarders, day cares and kennels are licensed under two different systems, because the page spans an English council and a Welsh one, plus a slice of a third council whose licensing area has no published business here at present.
Cheshire West and Chester Council (England)
Seven businesses — Digs for Dogs (Chester), All Creatures (Doggie Day Care), Oakfield Farm Boarding Kennels, Canine Capers of Chester, Wynnestay Kennels & Cattery, Glenbrittle Kennels and Warren Wood Kennels and Cattery — state they hold a Cheshire West and Chester Council licence. England's licensing regulations give every licensed premises a star rating from 1 to 5 at inspection, but this council's own online licence register sits behind a self-service portal that returned no readable list for this research, and no third-party mirror exists for this authority either. That means none of these seven can be checked against the register here, and no star rating is shown for any of them: each rests on the business's own published claim only. Flintshire County Council (Wales)
Four businesses — Ty Gwyn Pets, Waggy-tails, Calcot Kennels and Cattery and Aunty Vikki's Pet Services Ltd — sit over the border in Wales and are licensed by Flintshire County Council under the older Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963, renewed every year rather than over several years as England's newer rules allow. Flintshire publishes a working online register, and three of the four are confirmed on it directly, with a licence number and expiry date shown on the listing. Wales never adopted England's star-rating scheme, so no star appears for any Flintshire business here, whatever a business might say about itself elsewhere. Waggy-tails' own licence claim could not be confidently matched to a specific register entry near its address, so ask to see its current licence directly.
Wirral Council
The Neston & Heswall area also borders Wirral Council's licensing area, which publishes its own boarding and home-boarding register through a third-party mirror.
