Dog boarding and day care in Cheltenham, area by area
Twenty-six dog boarders, day cares and kennels are listed across the seven areas that make up Cheltenham and the north Cotswolds on this site. Supply is heavily weighted towards Cheltenham itself: the town centre and Cheltenham west between them account for more than half the listings, while each of the three north Cotswolds villages has only one.

Cheltenham centre and Cheltenham west
Between them these two areas hold fifteen of the town's twenty-six listings, including home boarders such as Smudgers Mutts, Walk 'n' Stay, On Howliday, Kerry's K9s and Hurcombe Hounds in the centre, and Bright Eyes Dog Care, Whoswalkingme and Find The Lead further west, alongside day-care specialists like Shorty and Co and the larger day-care-only site run by The Dog Day Care Club. All fifteen are licensed by Cheltenham Borough Council, except Whoswalkingme, which is licensed by Tewkesbury Borough Council despite trading from Cheltenham west.
Prestbury and Bishops Cleeve
Six businesses are listed here, split between two councils: most, including Watson Pet Care, Odi's Oldies, Bolts Buddies and S&J Dog Walking, are licensed by Cheltenham Borough Council, while Paws4ward Dog Care and Our Dog Walkers fall under Tewkesbury Borough Council's register instead, since this area straddles the Bishops Cleeve/Woodmancote boundary.
Charlton Kings, Leckhampton and the north Cotswolds villages
Charlton Kings and Leckhampton has two listings, Hounds and Hunters and Barney's Buddies, both licensed by Cheltenham Borough Council. Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Campden, and Moreton-in-Marsh each have exactly one: The Cotswold Pet Companion, Longhills Farm Boarding Kennels & Cattery, and Passion Grooms respectively. This is a genuinely low-supply area rather than a research gap — the north Cotswolds are far less densely populated than Cheltenham itself, and none of these three businesses could be checked against a Cotswold District Council register, since no address-bearing one exists.
How the councils split across areas
Cheltenham Borough Council licenses every business in Cheltenham centre, Cheltenham west and Charlton Kings/Leckhampton bar one, plus most of Prestbury and Bishops Cleeve; Tewkesbury Borough Council covers the remaining Prestbury and Bishops Cleeve businesses; and Cotswold District Council, which runs no address-bearing register at all, is the authority for all three north Cotswolds villages. That split is worth knowing before you call a council to check a licence, since the wrong council's register will simply not list the business you are asking about.
Looking further afield
If you live in one of the north Cotswolds villages and cannot find a suitable business close by, it may be worth calling further into Cheltenham itself — several of its home boarders and day cares are a reasonable drive away — or asking Cotswold District Council directly whether a newer licence holder has since been added to its list. See our choosing guide for more on how the three councils' registers differ, and our council licences guide for what each register actually shows.
