How Blackpool and the Fylde coast's councils license dog boarders

Three councils cover the seven areas listed for Blackpool and the Fylde coast, and each runs its licence register differently. All three require a licence for boarding kennels, home boarding and day care, but only two publish anything a member of the public can search directly, and none of the three currently shows a star rating for this category.

Blackpool Council

Blackpool Council licenses businesses in the Blackpool centre & South Shore, Blackpool north & Bispham and Layton & Marton areas through its own online register, searchable on licensingservice.blackpool.gov.uk. The register gives a licence number, the applicant's name, and the dates a licence was issued, commences and expires; it does not publish an address or a star rating for this category. Six of the eight Blackpool-area businesses listed here are confirmed against this register directly: Westway Kennels & Daycare, Lindsey's Doggy Daycare, Gee's Doggie Daycare, Holly Wood Hounds and Be Yappy. K9 Daycare and Alpha Pet Care both state on their own sites that they are licensed, but neither could be matched to an entry under its trading name or, where known, the owner's name — worth asking about directly.

Fylde Borough Council

Fylde Borough Council runs a similar online register, searchable on www4.fylde.gov.uk, on the same underlying software as Blackpool's, covering the whole borough's animal-welfare licensing, not boarding alone. Balmoral Boarding Kennels & Cattery, on the Blackpool/Fylde border despite its Blackpool-area postcode, Dog World Boarding and St Anne's Kennels & Cattery, both in Lytham St Annes, are confirmed against this register. As with Blackpool's version, no star rating is published for boarding, home boarding or day care licences on the view checked.

Wyre Council

Wyre Council, which covers the Cleveleys & Thornton, Poulton-le-Fylde and Fleetwood areas, publishes no searchable register or downloadable list of its own; its licensing guidance page explains how to apply but does not link to a public register. Licence numbers and expiry dates for Woofy Warehouse Doggy Day Care, Holidays for Dogs and Barking Mad Wyre and Fylde were instead confirmed through the animal-licensing.uk mirror, a third-party site that states its data comes from Wyre Council. That mirror does carry a star figure for some Wyre licences, but Wyre Council has not adopted or endorsed the mirror as its own register, so no star rating is shown here for any Wyre-licensed business. Holidays for Dogs' entry on the mirror also shows an expiry date, 26 March 2026, that had already passed by the time this was checked (20 September 2026); Wyre publishes no live register to confirm whether it has since been renewed.

No star ratings anywhere in this area

Some businesses listed here quote their own star figure on their own sites — Holly Wood Hounds mentions 4 stars, Dog World Boarding a recent 5-star rating, Balmoral Boarding Kennels & Cattery "5-star ratings across all services" — but none of these come from a council register that itself publishes a star field, so none is shown as a verified council rating on these listings. A council star rating is only ever shown here when it comes directly from a council-run register that publishes one; where that is not the case, as throughout this area, the business's own claim is left out rather than repeated as fact.
