Bath city centre and Widcombe
Five businesses: Bailbrook Dogs, Doggy Doos, Friends for Pets, Doggy Daycare Bath and Dog and Cat Care. All five offer day care, and four of the five also offer an overnight stay as home boarding, making this the area with the fullest range of options in the town. Bath south and Combe Down
Four businesses, including the town's two boarding kennels: Hyver Boarding Kennels and Woodborough Gardens Kennels & Cattery, alongside home boarders Paddy Paws and Wags & Walks Pet Service. Bradford-on-Avon
One listing, WestWoofs, a farm-based day care and secure walking field with no overnight boarding on site. Bradford-on-Avon is licensed by Wiltshire Council rather than BANES, and Wiltshire's own register could not be checked for this research, so this is also the area where the least could be confirmed. Friends for Pets, based in Bath city centre and Widcombe, also covers Bradford-on-Avon and the surrounding villages under a separate Wiltshire licence, so it is worth calling if WestWoofs does not suit. Why the split looks like this
Bath city centre and Widcombe's five listings are all home-based businesses rather than premises needing land, which fits a dense, largely residential part of the town. The two boarding kennels instead sit in Bath south and Combe Down, where more space for a kennel block and a run is easier to find. Bradford-on-Avon's single listing is partly a genuine gap in supply and partly a gap in what this research could confirm, since Wiltshire Council's register would not open; a fuller picture of boarding in that area would need a direct approach to the council rather than search alone.
Choosing an area
Distance matters less for a home boarder you will drop your dog with directly than it does for a day care you might use twice a week, where a shorter drive matters more. If your own area has little listed, the next nearest area on this page is usually only a short drive away; ask any business here whether it also covers your postcode, since several, including Friends for Pets and Midsomer Mutts, already describe covering more than one area.
